The chains of habit are generally too small to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.

Habits are defined as unconscious patterns of behaviour acquired through frequent repetition, and as such they pass us by, unnoticed, until becoming strong enough not to ever be broken. Think of anything possible of habit-forming, it all takes a while to start, but a lifetime to end. People are the slaves of their own routine.
