Never look for trouble. Don’t worry about something before it has happened. Your fears may be groundless, for it may never happen.

Mr King was driving his wife to the airport.

‘I’m terrified we shan’t get there in time,’ she said anxiously. ‘Supposing the car breaks down or we skid into a lamp–post or run over a dog?’

‘For heaven’s sake stop worrying!’ he replied. ‘We’re all right so far, aren’t we?’

‘Yes, but -‘

‘Then keep quiet and let me get on with the driving.’

Mr King caught the plane.
